Our Mission

The mission of NSSLHA at  SFSU  is to support the growth and professional development of students in the Communicative Disorders Program, to meet the challenges of providing competent and compassionate service to people with communication disorders. 

This student organization strives to develop the knowledge, skills, leadership, resources, collaborative spirit, and professional network of each student in preparation for a meaningful and productive career. We find inspiration, guidance, and support from one another as students, and through SFSU NSSLHA, we seek to harness our collective creativity, strength, and talents to create a strong community both within school and in the wider community.

What is NSSLHA?

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is a pre-professional membership association for students interested in the study of communication sciences and disorders. NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). National membership is available to undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students enrolled full- or part-time in a communication sciences program or related major.
